Frequently Asked Questions
Q. When will you be open?
Please click on the adventure you want to book and review the online calendar to see which days and times we are ready for you to come play in the trees!
Q. What is an Adventure Course?
A Tree Top Adventure Course is an adventurous obstacle course set in the natural environment where the course is located. The obstacles are suspended between trees and participants stay securely clipped into a red safety cable throughout the course. The obstacles you will find in our park include suspended bridges, scramble nets, swinging logs, and much more! If you complete all adult courses and 75+ obstacles, you will also have been on many ziplines. So give the course a try and test your limits!
Q. What is the Little Ninja Adventure Course?
The Little Ninja Course is a GROUND-BASED obstacle course for kids 5-8. It has many of the same obstacles that older kids and adults will attempt in the trees but on the Little Ninja they are very close to the ground. It is a ton of fun and admission is for an hour on the course, not including the training/harnessing time. We fit a harness to the kids, but these are just for show and it seems to be a big hit with the little kids.
Helmets are utilized on the Little Ninja Course also.
Q. Should I make a reservation, or can I just walk up?
Booking in advance is STRONGLY recommended to avoid any delays upon your arrival. It is common for us to sell out on weekends so booking in advance assures your group is able to Play in the Trees when you want.
Q. What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover and, of course, Cash.
Q. Rain Checks, how long are they valid?
60 days from the date of issue or the end of the calendar year they are issued in, whichever is sooner.
Q. What is the refund policy?
Bookings made via this website, or by phone, may be cancelled via phone up to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment and the customer will receive 100 of the total fee for that appointment. Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged 100 % of the fee for that appointment. Outside of 48 hours we are also happy to just reschedule the date and time or process a refund.
Q. Who has to fill out our waiver and where can I get a waiver?
Every participant must complete their own individual waiver. Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must have their waiver forms reviewed and signed by their parent or legal guardian. Waivers are available at our office, or available to download and/or are attached to the confirmation email once you book.
Q. Who signs as the witness on the waiver?
Anyone 18 or older who did not sign that waiver can sign as the witness. For the minor waiver, be sure that the parent/guardian who signed for the minor has someone else that is 18 years old or older sign as the witness. For example, if mom signs as the parent guardian, then dad can sign as the witness.
Q. Why do I sign a photography release on the waiver?
Two reasons: 1) Everyone has a camera these days. We cannot control, nor be responsible, for any issues arising from a picture taken by someone else that happens to be at the course. We are in a public park and also cannot control the public from taking pictures as we could on private land. 2) At times, we take professional pictures for marketing purposes and the best shots are usually real customers that are not staged or posed for the photos. With that being said, we want latitude to use pictures we take for marketing purposes.
Q. Is there more than one circuit on the Adventure Course?
Yes – indeed there are! There are FOUR Adult courses for those who meet the height/age requirements (Green, Blue, Red and Black).
Q. How long, in terms of time, would it take the average adult to complete the Adventure Course.
Although you can end your thrilling adventure at any time, it will take you approximately 3-4 hours to complete the Adventure Course.
Q. Is there a height/weight restriction for the Adult Course?
In order for guests to be able to reach the safety lines and manage their way through the Adult Course, they must be able to reach the middle of their palms to a height of 5’11″ (180 cm) while keeping their feet flat on the ground. For Junior climbers on the Green and Blue Courses aged 9-11 the reach level is 5’9″ to their palms. We don’t have a general weight limit, it really depends on the shape of the person to know if the weight can be a problem. As an example a 6’5″ 275 lb person fits fine in a harness… but a 5’2″, 285lb person probably will not. It’s all about the harness and a proper fit. All that being said 275 lbs is our weight limit.
Q. What are the basic safety rules?
We have a number of safety rules. #1) Always be clipped in. You must always be clipped into the safety lines and/or cables. #2) Always have your clips at waist height or higher. Another rule sometimes referred to as #3) Do not touch the climbing gear of other people. These are the basics but we will give you more detail and demonstrate the rules when you arrive. Remember, always be clipped in.
Q. If I am just coming to watch others in the trees do I need to pay anything? or be on the reservation as an observer?
Watching is FREE. You are free to watch and walk along the Courses. The only thing you cannot do is get up on any part of the Course.
Q. Do I have to do the Adventure Course in order?
Yes, the courses are designed for you to get used to the techniques before getting to a higher level of difficulty and elevation. The real accomplishment is to do the courses in order and finish as much as you can!
Q. How do I get started on a course?
When you have completed your waiver form and paid for your access, you’ll be scheduled into a brief group training session. At the training session, you’ll be fitted into your harness and your guide will show you how to attach yourself to safety lines and how to attach yourself to a zip line. Once your guide deems that you can safely use your equipment, you’ll be able to proceed onto the Adventure Course.
Q. Can I get a refund if I don’t want to proceed on to a course?
If you don’t proceed onto a course after your training session, you are eligible for a refund. Once you have finished your training and you start on any of the courses, you’ll have forfeited any refund options.
Q. Do I actually have to participate on the course with my 9-11 and/or 12-15 year old?
Yes, children 9-15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times on the course. All Children 9-15 must remain within 2 platforms of the adult at all times. If the adult accompanying the 9-15 year olds cannot continue, the children must also come down, or a Guide may be hired (if available) to accompany the child(ren) as far as they can go. If you are unclear about the safety precautions for 9-15 year old children, please call us and discuss.
Q. I am worried that I won’t be able to complete all of the courses and my 9-15 year old will have to come down when I do. What options do I have to allow them to continue?
If you can’t make it through, we can generally provide one of our staff members, at a cost, to take over and finish with them (provided we have the availability for it). A Guide to accompany a group or an individual is $50 for the entire course. If a Guide is only needed for ½ of the course or less, the cost for the Guide is $25. Again, we can’t guarantee, without prior notice, that we will have enough staff to take this on, but we always try to help our customers out!
Q. Do I need to stay at the course while my child(ren) are climbing?
Children 9-15 years old on the Adult Courses need an adult with them on the course and they must stay within 2 platforms of each other. 16 – 17 year olds may climb on the courses on their own, with the proper waiver signed by a parent/guardian. We ask that a parent be around on the ground watching.
Q. Do you limit the number of people that can come to FLG X on any given day?
Yes! We limit the number of participants to maintain good participant flow through the courses. In addition, staff levels and hours of daylight may also affect the number of people allowed to participate. FLG X is not a timed, competitive or speed of play attraction. At times we do have some delays due to volume but we don’t overbook the course. These infrequent back ups are usually caused by a rescue or a group of people congregating for lunch then all going back on the course at once. When you have to go up a ladder one at a time, that can slow things down. It is not in FLG X’s best interest to overfill the course and we do not do this, but at times there can be delays due to other reasons.
Q. What’s the best time/way for a large group to come to FLG X?
We recommend large groups (20 – 40) or extra large groups (60+) to always start the course first thing in the morning. This allows the group to get out on the course and spread out. In addition, during times with afternoon thunderstorms, if we have weather issues, they usually happen in the afternoon. This is important because it’s very hard for a large group to reschedule and can be costly if a hired bus is involved. We can arrange catering, team-building, or other activities to make it a full day.
Q. Can pregnant women participate in the activities at FLG X?
This activity is not recommended for women who are pregnant. If they choose to participate it is recommended that they consult their doctor prior to their visit. If we are unable to fit the harness properly they will not be allowed to participate.
Q. Are there clothing requirements?
Yes, appropriate footwear and clothing is required for safety purposes: We recommend that you wear fingerless gloves; do not wear open-toed shoes; no flipflops; no slip-on shoes; no loose baggy clothing or shirts wrapped around the waist; long hair must be tied back; secure eyeglasses and, we strongly recommend no jewelry – especially necklaces or loose bracelets, which could get caught in equipment. Guests can be refused access to the course if they do not have appropriate clothing to meet our safety standards. For our female participants we recommend longer shorts, yoga pants or workout tights. For males we recommend pants, longer shorts, workout clothing or similar. As well, we recommend that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirt or sap on (they’re trees, it just happens).
Q. Is it possible for physically disabled persons to use the course?
With direct assistance it may be possible for some physically disabled people to complete some aspects of some of the courses. We would require advance notice and a brief interview to determine if it would work out. Give us a call. There may be additional costs involved.
Q. What is your inclement weather policy?
FLG X operates RAIN or SHINE. Only severe weather conditions such as lightning in close (6 miles) proximity, high winds (over 40 mph), fire conditions, extreme cold and/or possibly heavy rain will temporarily close the courses. In the event that we close the Park and guests have been waiting for over an hour, guests can receive a RAIN CHECK or REFUND provided they have completed only two or less of the Courses. Customers that have progressed through 2 Courses and are on the 3rd Course or further will be issued a RAIN CHECK. RAIN CHECKS are valid for 60 days from the issue date or the current season year whichever is sooner.
